Geet Ramayan
Geet Ramayan (Marathi: गीतरामायण, literally, The Ramayana in Songs) is a collection of 56 songs in Marathi, written by noted litterateur G. D. Madgulkar (popularly known as Ga. Di. Ma. (गदिमा)), composed[1] and sung by Sudhir Phadke (or Babuji). The collection of songs contains the gist of the Indian epic of Ramayana in chronological sequence.
The first song "Swaye Shri Ramprabhu aikati (स्वये श्री रामप्रभू ऐकती)" was broadcast by Akashwani Pune (All India Radio Pune) on 1 April 1955; the auspicious day of Raam Navami (celebration of the birth of Lord Rama). It was one of the most popular programmes of that time. Geet Ramayan has been translated into nine Indian languages: Assamese Bengali, English, Hindi, Kannada, Konkani, Sindhi, Telugu and Oriya.
